NFIAP-EFIAP/d8 Distinction Requirements

There are Fifteen FIAP Distinctions for photographic merit in ascending grades. Each distinction must be obtained in sequence and, at a minimum, on an annual basis. From NFIAP to EFIAP/p the acceptances are cumulative and included with each application.

The Process:  Anyone interested in applying for the FIAP distinctions needs to study the information on this page and the linked pages describing the distinctions, the application schedule, and the FIAP Life Card and Platform Number.

No More than Ten Acceptances/Awards from an Image:   An image cannot have more than ten (10) acceptances/awards listed on a FIAP Distinction application form. Acceptances/awards for salons with FIAP Patronage numbers earlier than 2026 can have more than ten acceptances listed in a FIAP Distinction application form.

Optional Entry Level Distinction:  The optional entry level FIAP distinction the NFIAP (Novice), requires only 25 acceptances, from only five countries, with acceptances from only ten titles/images, and the candidate must provide five digital files for images with at least two acceptances in three different countries. There is no FIAP Distinction fee for the NFIAP. Newcomers have the option of beginning with the NFIAP or the AFIAP.

FIAP Life Card:  Anyone applying for a FIAP Distinction must have a FIAP Life Card. The card includes a FIAP identification number and FIAP Platform number that must be included in any FIAP Distinction application.

You can obtain a FIAP Life Card online at: http://www.myfiap.net/user/register/fp. When you arrive at this FIAP webpage, you will find a video that explains the process in detail.

There is a one-time charge of €50 (approximately $58 USD) plus postage and PayPal fee for a FIAP Life Card. You will receive an updated card when you receive a new distinction.

Fees:  Each FIAP distinction has three fees involved: the registration fee, the application fee, and a processing fee.

  • The registration fee is $25 and is paid as registration closes in early January.
  • The fee for each of the FIAP distinctions is $85 plus a $75 processing fee = $160 total which is paid approximately March 20, if the application is ready to be submitted to FIAP.
